Hærvejen * ★ * Pilgrimsruten The Pilgrims Route (EuroVelo 3) Foreningen Frie Fugle is working for the municipality of Viborg on the historical route Hærvejen. This ancient trackway starts close to Viborg and runs all the way to Hamburg, via Flensburg. This road was originally a trade route with the most Important commodity being livestock, especially oxen (hence Its German name Ochsenweg: the Oxen Way), but also amber, hides, metal, glass and weapons. EV3 actually uses part of Hærvejen but at Viborg it will relocated to pass the railway station and through the center of the city. The intention is that It will be signed with EuroVelo signs (see image). Some other minor changes to the route are also In the pipeline.
